The Directory is made up of five Directors who held executive power in France. The Directory consisted of five members because more members mean more opinions and more opinions mean more ideas. The mistake of making only one person the leader of the whole state was already realized by the people. Power should be distributed among the people so less workload would be put upon each member. The Directory era constituted the second to the last stage of the French revolution. The Directory made a new constitution. Change is needed everywhere. It was needed in France. They constituted inevitable change in the society and way of lifestyle and way of ruling. The New Constitution only favored the needs and wants of the high estates. The Third estate people were not treated equally. Their rights were suppressed by the new constitution, which led them to revolt in the streets of France. When the Military tried to calm the people, Napoleon Bonaparte was there. The Directory and the French Revolution came to an end with the coup d’etat in which General Napoleon Bonaparte replaced the Directory with The Consulate. Napoleon staged a coup against them because they needed to change. He needed to represent the people. He was the voice that spoke out the thoughts and minds of the people. He saw the corruption in the ruling of The Directory so he knew he had to do something about it. In the end, The Directory was overthrown by Napoleon.
